Description

Professional Dynamometric Tamper L. 170mm × D. 210mm × H. 410mm with Ø 52mm and Ø 57.5mm Bases

The MACAP CPS (Constant Pressure System) dynamometric tamper solves the barista's challenge of achieving consistent coffee puck density across every extraction. This professional tool delivers constant 25 kg pressing force regardless of operator strength or fatigue, ensuring repeatable shot quality for Macap machines.

The tamper includes two precision bases — Ø 52mm and Ø 57.5mm — allowing compatibility with standard and oversized portafilters. Mechanical components are manufactured from hardened metal to withstand repeated commercial use.

Specifications

  • Length: 170mm
  • Diameter: 210mm
  • Height: 410mm
  • Base diameter 1: Ø 52mm
  • Base diameter 2: Ø 57.5mm
  • Constant pressure: 25 kg
  • System: CPS (Constant Pressure System)
  • Construction: Hardened metal mechanical components

Advantages of the CPS Professional

The dynamometric mechanism eliminates variables in tamping pressure, allowing baristas to focus on grind consistency and distribution. By delivering the same 25 kg force on every tamp, the CPS Professional removes operator inconsistency as a variable in espresso extraction.

How to use CPS Professional

Position the appropriate base (Ø 52mm or Ø 57.5mm) over your distributed coffee grounds in the portafilter. Apply downward pressure until the dynamometric system engages — the mechanism will deliver exactly 25 kg of force and indicate when proper pressure is reached. Twist slightly while removing the tamper to polish the puck surface.

Cleaning

Clean the piston and tamper surface area daily using a dry cloth to prevent coffee residue buildup that could compromise function and espresso quality. Avoid wet cleaning methods that may introduce moisture into the mechanical system.

Maintenance

The hardened metal mechanical components require maintenance every 500,000 tamps to replace worn O-rings, spheres, and springs. This service should be performed by trained personnel — the piston is designed for professional servicing and should not be opened by untrained operators.
