HARIO JAPANESE POUR OVER BREWERS

Since 1921, Hario has been dedicated to design, production and distribution of heatproof glass. Historically, Hario began as a manufacturer of laboratory glassware however in 1948 they expanded their production to household items. Today they produce a range of variety items, from microwave safe kitchenware and coffee products, all the way to pet products.

Hario has become known as the coffee industry leader in pour over brewing equipment. Hario has since produced a range of brew bar gear used extensively in the coffee industry. Their most recognised product being the Hario v60 brewer.

The popular v60 has become a term for pour over coffee brewing and often featured on cafe brew bar menus! If you are looking to establish a commercial brew bar, or a home brew setup, the Hario range will definitely fit!

The pour over method is a unique brewing method which produces a clean, sharp and aromatic cup of coffee. V60 coffee is exactly this. It's as simple as pouring hot water to rinse the filter paper, the right grind size coffee grounds and pouring the water in circular motions.

The Hario V60 makes a delicious cup of coffee, it’s easy to use, and it’s really fun. We’re excited to be a supplier for Hario Australia and our range of Hario coffee gear is always growing. We love pour over coffee brewing for the at home barista as it delivers a smooth, acid free finish for every cup.

Your barista might make the process look complex but if you follow these professional tips, you’ll be making cafe quality coffee in no time. Hario pour over coffee makes manual brewing exciting.

Standard Method.

  • Heat water to approx. 93 degrees celsius
  • Measure and grind 25g of fresh beans to a medium fine grind size
  • Fold the V60 filter along the flat edge
  • Rinse the filter to wash away any residue and preheat the v60 brewing vessel
  • Add coffee and tare scales, shake to settle grounds into a flat surface
  • Pour hot water in circular motions (aim for 300-400ml over 2-3 minutes)
  • Add just enough water to evenly saturate them, let them sit for 45 seconds to bloom
  • Resume pouring the remaining amount of water over the desired time
  • Allow the water to completely drain through the v60 filter into the hario heatproof glass vessel
  • Serve your brew and enjoy!

As with any brews methods, the hario v60 takes time and practice does make perfect! If you constantly make minor adjustments to your process you'll eventually get a cup that suits you.
