Coffee pod machines that make real espresso wherever you are

Portable capsule machines, Wacaco Nanopresso adaptors and ESE pod portafilters. We sell the gear, not the pods.

TL;DR: Coffee pod machines brew capsules or ESE paper pods under pressure. Coffee Parts stocks the Outin Nano, Cera+ PCM03S, Timemore x Nuttii, Wacaco Nanopresso adaptors and ESE pod portafilters.

Pods are the most convenient way to make coffee, and most gear built around them is dull. This page is the exception. If you want nespresso pods in a caravan, dolce gusto pods on a hike, or ESE coffee pods in a Rancilio or La Marzocco, we stock coffee pod machines and pod-compatible parts we would use ourselves. Up front: we sell the machines, adaptors and baskets, not the capsules. Below: formats, machines, and who each suits.

Three pod formats, three different problems

Pods is a loose word. Nespresso Original capsules are small tapered aluminium or plastic cups. Dolce Gusto capsules are a larger, different shape and are not interchangeable with Original. ESE pods (Easy Serving Espresso) are paper-wrapped tablets of ground coffee that fit a conventional espresso machine with the right filter basket or portafilter. Nespresso Vertuo is a fourth format, dome-shaped with a barcode rim, and nothing on this page takes it. Before you buy anything here, know which of these you are actually feeding it.

Why a parts company has a pods page

We know espresso machines from the inside. We have supplied their parts to technicians across Australia since 1999, and ESE pod portafilters and baskets have been on our shelves almost as long: cafés running a second machine for decaf, offices, and home users who want the ritual of a proper group head without a grinder. The portable capsule machines came later, and each one earned its place the same way, by being tested in the warehouse and on the road before we listed it.

The technical case for a capsule is real. The coffee is ground, dosed and tamped by machine, so the shot is consistent every time, and the seal keeps it fresh in a bag for weeks. The trade-off is that you cannot adjust grind or dose, and the coffee is only as good as whoever filled the pod.

Portable coffee pod machines

The Outin Nano Portable Espresso Maker is the one we hand to people who want a self-contained capsule machine for travel; it is available in Space Grey and Pearl White. The Cera+ Portable Espresso Coffee Machine PCM03S is the heating version, so it warms its own water rather than relying on a kettle. The Timemore x Nuttii Portable Espresso Capsule Machine comes from a brand we distribute exclusively in Australia. The iKape Portable Electric Coffee Maker V1 also heats its own water. Check each product page for the capsule format before ordering.

Adaptors for a brewer you already own

Nanopresso owners do not need a second machine. The Wacaco Nanopresso NS Adaptor lets it brew Nespresso Original capsules and compatibles by hand; the Wacaco Nanopresso DG Kit does the same for Dolce Gusto. Both fit the Nanopresso only. Wacaco's caution, which we share: some non-original capsules perform poorly, and capsules with a filter paper membrane are not compatible.

Lever machines with a pods model

The Flair GO Pods Model is a manual lever brewer built for pods rather than grounds. Choose it for the feel of a lever shot with the convenience of a pod.

ESE pods on a real espresso machine

An ESE paper pod will brew in a commercial group if the basket is shaped for it. The Adjustable Portafilter for ESE Pod fits Rancilio, Vbm and Wega groups. The IMS Double Dose ESE Pod Filter (70mm outer diameter, 21.5mm deep) and the double pod filter basket b220 drop into an existing portafilter. Measure your basket's outer diameter first, or send us a photo of the group and we will confirm the fit.

Keeping a capsule machine clean

The Cafetto Nespresso Organic Eco Capsule Cleaning Pods run through an Original-format machine like a normal capsule and clean the chamber on the way. Cafetto is a brand my dad convinced its founder to start; it is what we use on our own machines.

Who this is for, and who it is not for

Right for the capsule drinker who wants coffee off-grid at a campsite or on the road, and for the café or office running ESE pods through a commercial group. Not right if you want a plug-in kitchen pod coffee machine; we do not sell bench-top capsule machines, and our coffee machines range serves a kitchen better. If you are chasing the ceiling of what coffee can be, fresh beans and a grinder beat any pod. We would rather say so than sell you the wrong tool.

A pod machine is only half the kit. Alongside a portable capsule machine we would pack the Outin Rebrew Espresso Cup, which is sized for the short shot these machines pull, and the Outin Silicone Coffee Mat to keep a car dash or picnic table clean. Nanopresso owners should add the Wacaco shockproof case range for the glovebox. For the ESE crowd, keep a standard basket in the drawer so the machine goes back to ground coffee in thirty seconds. And whichever route you take, a box of Cafetto capsule cleaning pods keeps the chamber honest. None of this is an upsell; it is what lives in our own kit.

I grew up in a warehouse full of E61 groups and burr sets, so I understand the raised eyebrow when Coffee Parts has a pods page. Not every coffee moment is a Sunday morning with a grinder and a scale. Some are a Tuesday at 6am on the Hume, a campsite two hours from the nearest café, or a decaf order at a busy counter. I still want those coffees to be espresso, not a sachet. The gear here does that, and each piece has been through our hands before it went on the shelf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell the capsules or ESE pods themselves? +

No. Coffee Parts stocks the machines, adaptors, portafilters and filter baskets that use them, not the coffee. Nespresso Original, Dolce Gusto and ESE paper pods are widely available from roasters and supermarkets across Australia. For hand brewers, choose standard aluminium or plastic Original-format capsules; Wacaco advises that some non-original capsules perform poorly and that filter-paper-membrane capsules are not compatible.

Which format does each machine take? +

It varies, so check the individual product page before you order. The Wacaco Nanopresso NS Adaptor takes Nespresso Original and compatibles; the Wacaco Nanopresso DG Kit takes Dolce Gusto. The ESE portafilters and baskets take ESE paper pods in a conventional espresso machine. Nothing on this page accepts Nespresso Vertuo, which is a different dome-shaped format.

Can I put an ESE paper pod in my Rancilio Silvia? +

Yes, with the right basket or portafilter. The Adjustable Portafilter for ESE Pod is listed to fit Rancilio, Vbm and Wega groups, and the IMS Double Dose ESE Pod Filter at 70mm outer diameter and 21.5mm depth drops into many standard portafilters. Measure your existing basket's outer diameter first, or send us a photo of the group and we will confirm the fit.

Will the Wacaco DG Kit work on a Minipresso? +

No. Wacaco specifies both the NS Adaptor and the DG Kit for the Nanopresso only. If you own a Minipresso, the capsule route is the Minipresso NS2 model, which is built for Nespresso Original capsules from the start rather than through an adaptor.

How does a hand-pumped brewer reach espresso pressure? +

You supply the force. A hand pump builds pressure in the chamber and pushes hot water through the pod. Because the coffee inside a capsule is machine-ground, dosed and tamped, the resistance is consistent, which is why the shot is repeatable even though a person rather than a motor provides the pressure. Use water just off the boil and warm the brewer first; small chambers lose heat fast.

Where does the hot water come from on a portable brewer? +

It depends on the model. The Cera+ PCM03S heating version and the iKape Portable Electric Coffee Maker V1 heat their own water. Hand brewers such as the Nanopresso with an adaptor and the Flair GO Pods Model do not; you fill them from a kettle, camp stove or insulated bottle. Check the product page for the Outin Nano and Timemore x Nuttii before assuming either way.

Is cleaning different for a capsule machine? +

The principle is the same, the method is simpler. Coffee oil builds up in the brew chamber and outlet, so rinse after use and run a cleaning capsule periodically. The Cafetto Nespresso Organic Eco Capsule Cleaning Pods go through an Original-format machine like a normal capsule. Hand brewers only need a rinse and a wipe, and a dry store between trips.
