Description

Rocket RE A 2 Group Commercial Coffee Machines

The Rocket RE A 2 group commercial coffee machine sits in the middle of Rocket Espresso's commercial line, above the compact Boxer and below the multi boiler R 9. It is a thermo siphon heat exchanger: water for the groups circulates through the heat exchanger by convection, so there is no separate brew boiler to manage and no screen, menu or firmware update between your barista and the shot. Temperature is controlled by a pressure transducer, and boiler pressure is digitally adjustable. You set the pressure and the machine holds it.

What decides a two group machine in a café is steam. Rocket Espresso has fitted the RE A with a 14.5 litre copper boiler and 4.3 kW of element, so the third and fourth jug of a rush have the same steam behind them as the first. Copper moves heat quickly, which is part of how the machine recovers between orders. If you are comparing 2 group coffee machines, or searching for an industrial coffee machine for a venue, tell us your venue type and daily cup count and we will say plainly whether the RE A is the right size.

Rocket REA 2 group commercial coffee machines come in different panel finishes and in standard or tall cup height. We confirm that configuration, and the exact packing list, with you at order rather than asking you to assume it. See the full Rocket Espresso commercial range, or compare it with the other commercial coffee machines we supply.

Figures are Rocket Espresso's own, from the RE A Timer column of the 2023 Rocket Espresso Commercial Range brochure.

Built for a two group rush

The Rocket RE A 2 group commercial coffee machine is a thermo siphon heat exchanger. Group water is drawn through the heat exchanger by convection rather than heated in a separate brew boiler, so the machine holds a working temperature and recovers it without a screen or firmware to manage. For a café with a rotating team, that means very little to learn beyond the buttons.

Set the pressure, then leave it

Thermal control is by pressure transducer, and boiler pressure is digitally adjustable. The operator sets the pressure once and the machine holds it through service.

Automatic portion control on both groups

Both groups have automatic portion control, so each shot stops at the programmed amount, and a standard shot timer shows how long it ran. Good espresso is a recipe: dose, yield, time and temperature. Programmed shots and the timer keep yield and time consistent across a team, but they are a starting point, not a guarantee. Shots still need watching for flow rate and channelling, and when the time drifts, the grind is the first thing to check.

Steam that keeps up

Two cool touch steam wands draw on a 14.5 litre copper boiler with a 4.3 kW element. Boiler volume is steam capacity, and steam capacity decides whether the last jugs of a rush come out like the first.

Where it sits in Rocket Espresso's commercial line

The Boxer sits at the compact end, the RE A in the middle, and the multi boiler R 9 and pressure profiling R 9V above it. Each answers a different question. The RE A answers the one most cafés ask: build quality and steam, without paying for control the bar will not use.

Your Complete Two Group Setup

What We Think Of The RE A

The RE A is the Rocket Espresso you buy when you want the build and the Milan provenance without paying for control you will never use. A heat exchanger on a large copper boiler suits a venue with a milk-heavy menu and a team that changes shift to shift: there is little to program beyond the shot volumes, and the steam is there when the dockets stack up. That is why it has earned its place in the middle of Rocket Espresso's line.

It is not the machine for a bar that wants separate brew boilers or pressure profiling. That buyer should look up the range to the multi boiler R 9 or the pressure profiling R 9V. If bench space is the constraint, the compact Boxer is the more honest fit.

We've been supplying, servicing and repairing espresso machines since 1999, and we carry Rocket Espresso RE A spare parts, so the machine you buy from us is one we know how to keep running. Most of the machines we sell are bench-tested in our Pagewood workshop before dispatch.
