Two boilers, PID control and a rotary pump, in seven finishes sized for a home bench.
TL;DR: The La Marzocco Linea Micra is a compact dual-boiler espresso machine with PID temperature control and a rotary pump. It runs from its own tank or plumbed in.
The La Marzocco Linea Micra brings café engineering into a footprint built for a home kitchen. La Marzocco calls it the first machine it designed specifically for home use, and the smallest it has made without trading away quality, performance or reliability. Two stainless-steel boilers split brewing and steaming, so the shot and the milk happen together. Every finish is listed below and currently available on backorder.
Take the panels off and the Micra reads like a scaled-down café machine. There are two stainless-steel boilers, one dedicated to brewing and one to steam, with PID temperature control holding the brew water where you set it. Pressure comes from a rotary vane pump, the pump type commercial machines commonly use, rather than a vibration pump. A paddle starts and stops the shot, and two gauges sit on the front: one for the coffee group, one for the steam boiler. If you're comparing architectures, our rotary pump coffee machines range shows where it sits.
Café machines typically brew at around 9 bar with water somewhere between 90°C and 97°C. Water cools the moment it meets the coffee bed, so a brew boiler that drifts a few degrees changes the cup. PID control keeps that boiler steady, which means a recipe you've dialled in holds there tomorrow. The Micra also connects to the La Marzocco app over a 2.4 GHz wireless network, using a phone on Android 6 or iOS 10 and later.
We've been supplying, servicing and repairing espresso machines since 1999, and most of the machines and grinders we sell are bench-tested in our Pagewood workshop before dispatch.
The Micra suits a home barista who makes milk coffee most days and wants café workflow on a short bench. If you searched for the mini La Marzocco, check the naming: the La Marzocco Linea Mini is a separate, larger home machine, while the LM Linea Micra is the brand's smallest. The full lineup sits under La Marzocco espresso machines, and our dual boiler coffee machines cover other makers with the same two-boiler layout.

La Marzocco publishes a water specification for the Micra, and the warranty is void if your water sits outside it. The targets include total dissolved solids between 90 and 150 ppm, total hardness between 70 and 100 ppm, alkalinity between 40 and 80 ppm and a pH between 6.5 and 8.5. A water test kit shows where your tap water lands, and a water filter brings it into range. Plumbing the machine into mains water follows La Marzocco's installation guide and your local safety standards.
The manual sets a room temperature range between 5°C and 32°C, worth knowing before you set up in a garage or an outdoor kitchen. Place it on a hard, level surface with room to slide the reservoir out for refilling.
The seven colours share the same machine underneath, so choose the one that suits your kitchen. Each Linea Micra for sale on this page is currently available on backorder.
La Marzocco has sponsored the World Barista Championship, and its machines are widely used in cafés run by champions. Australia's 2022 World Barista Champion Anthony Douglas, the first person to win the title on home soil, competed on La Marzocco and is a La Marzocco Global Ambassador. The Micra puts that engineering family on a home bench.
A machine this stable shows up an inconsistent grinder quickly. Pair it with an espresso grinder that makes fine, repeatable adjustments, then add a coffee tamper that fits your basket and a milk jug for the steam wand. Sort your water before the first fill. If you'd rather order machine and grinder together, see our La Marzocco packages.
If I were setting up a home bench in a small kitchen, the Micra is the La Marzocco I'd look at first. What sells me isn't the size. It's that nothing important was cut to get there: two boilers, PID, a rotary pump and proper gauges. My one piece of advice is boring, but it matters. Test your water before the box arrives, because the warranty depends on it and so does every shot you pull.

No. They are two different La Marzocco home machines. La Marzocco describes the Micra as the smallest machine it has made, while the Linea Mini is a larger model with its own range on our site.

Two stainless-steel boilers, one dedicated to brewing and one to steam. The brew side uses PID temperature control to hold a steady temperature shot after shot.
Yes. Because brewing and steaming run on separate boilers, you can pull a shot while texturing milk, without waiting for a single boiler to change temperature.
