Grinding coffee on demand is super important, as during grinding coffee you effectively increasing the surface area of coffee, and as a result significantly increasing the oxygenation process. Pre-ground coffee can never be fresh, and especially in espresso, pre-ground coffee will always lack creama and body. How do you adjust your electric grinder?

  1. Decide what adjustment (finer or more coarse) you require and move the collar. Make sure you have enough beans in the hopper and that the close slide is open allowing beans through to the blades.
  2. Turn on the grinder for 10 seconds and discard that grind (it will still be on the old setting).
  3. Run a test shot keeping dose and tamp technique consistent.
  4. Assess shot quality and extraction rate (even if it’s not perfect, have you improved it?).
  5. Repeat as necessary until correct extraction is achieved.
